McCall secures McManus for Motherwell

The capture of the 30 year old was widely expected following the news that he had joined the team’s pre-season training schedule.  His signing gives a major boost to our hopes for the season.  It’s surprising how quickly those who left in the late spring become memories as we focus on the way ahead.

McManus followed his long spell in Celtic’s central defence with a few years at Middlesbrough and most recently a loan spell with Bristol City.  Reports suggest that Hibs were after him but he has chosen Motherwell and he’ll join Hammell, Ramsden, Hutchinson, Cummins, Francis-Angol and Kerr to give plenty of defensive options to the team.

The transfer window will remain open until the end of August but with McManus joining Vigurs, Lawson, Neilsen, Sutton and Kerr it looks like our signing spree is coming to a close - though we hope for news of Faddy signing up!.

There’s a busy week ahead as the warm up games against Newcastle on Tuesday and Morecambe on Saturday will be split by our Europa League draw on Friday.
