Motherwell are going to Iceland
Updated Monday, 21st June 2010
We have been handed an Icelandic test in the second qualifying round of the 2010/2011 Europa League.
Our opponents entered the draw process at the second qualifying round having won the Icelandic Cup. They play in the town of Kopavogur, the second city of the country, although presumably any fans making the trip north will be going via capital Reykjavik - indeed, Kopavogur is essentially a suburb of its bigger neighbour.
This is Motherwell's second attempt at the new Europa League but we fell short of making the group stage last season as Steaua Bucharest proved too strong in the third qualifying round. Flamurtari and Llanelli had been previously defeated. Read about all of our European campaigns here.
The official website of our opponents his here.
