Motherwell beat Forfar in friendly #2

reynoldsOnly Shuker and Gazapo survived from Tuesday’s outing at Brechin and the trialists were put under the microscope by the management.  No doubt we’ll be back to full strength for Saturday’s trip to Ayr.

It was the home side’s first outing as they prepared for another campaign in Division 2 and they may well be the better pleased with the evening’s work out.  After 45 minutes they had held the score to 1-1and they must have felt better than their SPL opponents.

Shuker opened the scoring in twenty minutes with some neat footwork inside the area before finishing with a fine shot.  Sadly, we conceded two minutes later following a throw in.  A knock-on allowed Fortheringham to head home at the far post.  No doubt a few defensive blushes were on show!

We had to wait till deep into the second half before the win was secured.  Mark Reynolds picked up the loose ball following a corner and made no mistake from close range.

In the end our superior fitness made the difference and another step on the way to next week’s game against the Icelanders has been taken.   Next up is a visit to Somerset Park on Saturday afternoon.
