Motherwell enter Europa League at 3rd qualifying round

The draw will take place in Nyon on Friday 19 July but as the previous round will not be completed until 25 July there will be some delay before our opponents are known for certain.  If we are not at Fir Park for the first leg then speedy travel arrangements will be needed.

The Europa League had its first season in 2009/10 and Motherwell have played seven ties in the competition;

2009/10 Llanelli, Flamutari, Steaua Bucharest

2010/11 Breidablik, Aalesunds, Odense

2012/13 Levante

As in previous campaigns we’ll be fielding a team that has been untested and with the current uncertainty we may be under the charge of a new manager.  The SPL season starts within days of the European game and as our tie will be on a Thursday that will mean a delay to the league fixture.

Although our club coefficient has increased from last season’s 6.728 to 7.038 it is very unlikely that we will be seeded and we know what that means!  Keep an eye on Bert Kassies’ excellent site to spot possible opponents.  The 58 teams in the 3rd qualifying round will be split into groups of 10 or 12 to simplify the draw.
