The fifth round draw of the Scottish Cup has given us a tie against Brechin City or St Mirren at Fir Park. The match should take place on Saturday 7th February unless it is moved for television coverage.

The usual cry for a home draw has been satisfied and while it's never ideal to face SPL opposition, there were tougher games than St Mirren. Of course it is possible Brechin will spring a surprise and provide our opposition but if we do face the Buddies, we can be confident of progressing to the quarter finals.

We have a decent record against St Mirren in the cup with seven wins and four losses from 12 games. We were hammered at Love Street in the third round in 2006 but won there in 2001. The last meeting at Fir Park was way back in 1977 when we 'outmuscled' Alex Ferguson's young team to win 2-1 in front of 28,000.
