It was a low key affair compared to last season's event when John Boyle announced his intention to step back and pass his majority shareholding to the community but there was an acceptance that the club was in good financial state although it was operating in difficult times in the football industry.

Derek Weir made the introductions and opened with an acknowledgement that the club had lost a great servant when Bill Dickie passes away.  He then thanked Stuart McCall and Leeann Dempster for the good works on and off the pitch that had placed us in the happy position of producing a profit of £540,000 with no bank debt.

It was made clear that one of the main tasks in the club was the development and sale of players and since the current year had no sales in the two transfer windows that our income would drop in the next financial period.

The Leeann covered some of the current and future issues for the club; the drive to build the club's fanbase, ongoing discussions regarding a move to Ravenscraig and use of training facilities, upgrading of the artificial pitch, building relationships with the football academy at Braidhurst, the costs of maintaining a safe environment at an old ground, the pragmatic approach to safe standing, moves to encourage away fans to Fir Park and the drive to build the Well Society.

the Society is over halfway to the £250k target and shareholders were encouraged to get onboard and to encourage friends and relatives to sign up.  LD revealed that there had been one sign up to the top tier of membership and that others were likely to join.  The club had hosted over sixty business contacts before the his game as part of a Society briefing.

Stuart McCall fielded the usual questions about the football department and suggested that initial talks about extending his contract have taken place.  He was delighted at the success that Higdon has been having.  He understands fully the need for the club to sell at least one player a year to keep club finances topped up.
