Motherwell Start in Paisley

Last updated : 14 June 2007 By Firparkcorner

We played St Mirren in the second game of 2006/7 and were well beaten by the then first division champions. A report of that disaster is here.

We have a fascinating starting series of games which might either make or break the season. After the first awayday there are four home(!) fixtures (Inverness, Kilmarnock, Gretna and Hearts). The Gretna game is listed as an away tie but we must be able to claim home advantage for that one. The potential for a flying start is there.

Other dates to note in the diary are a Boxing Day trip to Ibrox and a New Year fixture to Easter Road on January 2. Gone are the days of any sort of derby at Ne'rday. We finish the pre-split games for the second consecutive season with a trip to Parkhead.

Rangers will visit us twice while the other half of the old firm are scheduled to play at Fir Park only once (5 January).

We will have more than the usual interest in the SPL newcomers who will play their home games at Fir Park. They kick off against Falkirk on the opening day.

$etanta will have their pick of the fixtures as usual so it's inevitable that come games will be moved. Let's hope we can avoid the ludicrous 1230 on Sunday and Monday night slots!

A full list of fixtures can be found on the official site, here

and all UK fixtures are available here.
