Next up - Ross County

The last home game of the season will have a familiar theme.  Our success in recent years has made this occasion a well rehearsed event for ‘Well fans and beach balls and sombreros will be on show as the team’s efforts over the season are acknowledged.  However, before the players can join the party one detail remains, a point is needed to ensure the runners up place.   Of course, if Inverness fail to beat Dundee United on Saturday the carnival can begin early!

Handshakes

One regular won’t need to get into his party uniform.  Ojamaa’s indiscretions in Inverness resulted in a suspension and for the first time in half a dozen games the manager is faced with an alteration to the tried and tested starting eleven.  This will create an opening for Carswell or Higginbotham with the latter more likely to keep Higdon company up front.

The live TV broadcast on BBC Alba will no nothing to encourage County fans to make the long journey to see their team at Fir Park.  Their chance of Europe is still hanging by a thread but we have to recognise that their first SPL season has been a huge success.  It took a late Lasley goal to beat them on their first visit to Motherwell but this time they will be without Quinn who scored a double in that game.   Vigurs and Brittain are the goal threats from midfield and if we can keep them contained  then the party can begin.

It will be the last time this group of players play at home and there will be a few sad farewells.  Much has been written about our many players who are at the end of their contracts and we'll have to wait a while to learn of their future paths.  McFadden and Higdon are on the front pages of the match day double programmes and they'll  be keen to leave us with another fond memory as we secure our runners up spot with a 2-1 win.

Remember the last visit from Ross County?
