Next up - Aberdeen

Aberdeen will provide the opposition for Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.  The visitors had a narrow win when the teams met at Pittodrie in September, can we turn the tables this weekend?

After yet another international break we complete November’s allocation of three fixtures before launching into a crazy December that is scheduled to have eight league matches.

Happy day!

The Motherwell squad should dismiss the recent debacle at Ibrox as an aberration and focus instead on the critical victories over St Mirren and Dundee.  Those produced some welcome wriggle room and anything gained on Saturday will probably increase the gap.

Carl McHugh will be suspended for this match and he will sit alongside Peter Hartley on the bad boys’ bench against Livingston next week.

Andy Rose will likely return to a starting eleven that will otherwise be little changed.

Aberdeen were not impressive in the opening weeks of the campaign but they have strung together a four game winning run that has seen the loss on only one goal.  They must be mindful of the League Cup final a week after their trip to Fir Park.

They will be without Mikey Devlin in their back line so our strikers will probably have the attentions of McKenna and Considine.  Recent goals from the Dons have come from Mackay-Steven, Anderson, Ferguson, Shinnie and Wilson.  We have to be aware of the threat from all areas of the pitch.

This match will test the mettle.  If the players can shake off the recent disappointment and rise to the challenge we may cause a wee surprise with a 2-1 win.

Remember the last visit of Aberdeen?
