Next up - Inverness (again)

Stuart McCall was already talking of the need to prepare for the trip north before the players had emerged from the post-match shower.  A win will place us one point above Aberdeen while a loss would give encouragement Dundee United.  McFadden will have been rested for ten days following his withdrawal after an hour against Ross County and the team would be boosted by his return.  The manager was upbeat when he talked of players returning from injury.  Anier had 20 minutes on the pitch and Kerr had a fleeting appearance.  Erwin was on the bench

No luck for Hutchinson this time

Caley Thistle’s hopes of a European spot have stumbled somewhat in a busy March.  They recorded only one win in six attempts and dropped two points on Saturday when St Mirren scored a second half equaliser.  The troops in the Caledonian stands are not overjoyed with their team’s performance and there can be no surprise at the early mutterings about the ir recently appointed manager.

Meekings saw red at the weekend and he’ll be missing from the heart of their defence.  Neither Foran nor Doran were in the squad and they must be outsiders for Tuesday.  Tansey suffered a knee knock and is another doubt.  Given that their top six place is secure it may be that team selection will be made with next season in mind.  If that’s the case then it’s likely that Christie, Polworth and Ross might be given a run.

This fixture has arrived less than a fortnight after our 2-0 win over Inverness at Fir Park.  It may have been the case that they suffered a reaction to the League Cup final defeat but goals from Sutton and Ainsworth earned us the win.  If they can find the net again on Tuesday maybe we’ll enjoy the homeward journey following a 2-1 win.
