Both teams have arrived at the six point mark by identical routes; a loss to Rangers and wins over East Stirlingshire and Annan Athletic.  Motherwell have the advantage of a +3 goal difference though that will play no part in determining second spot as a bonus point becomes available after a 90 minute draw.

Motherwell's last appearance at Stair Park - February 2011

If the visitors are to reach the knockout we need to score a few against the League One side.  Moult is unavailable and he task of leading the line be entrusted to McDonald and Johnson.  Motherwell have created lots of scoring opportunities in the earlier matches and if a higher conversion ration can be found that our interest in the competition will remain.

The manager made four changes for the Tuesday night game as he continues to seek out the best eleven.  There may be some movement with midfield personnel for the trip to Stair Park.  Will trialist Craig Clay have another chance to impress?  Will Thomas drop out in favour of Ainsworth?

Stranraer youngster Kyle Turner takes the view that “Motherwell is a cup final for us” and with our recent stumbles in cup competitions against lower league opposition they will fancy an upset.  The former Hearts striker Christian Nade scored on his debut against Annan and he will be partnered by Craig Malcolm in attack.  The Blues needed two goals in added time to beat East Stirlingshire.

Motherwell’s last trip to Stair Park was for a Scottish Cup tie in February 2011.  Steve Jones and John Sutton scored to deliver a 2-0 win in a journey that ended at Hampden.  A similar result will probably see us into the next stage of the League Cup.
