No shortage of publicity for the 'Well

The momentum had been building slowly but the end of the SPL season has left the field clear for the Scottish Cup Final.  There was a press call to Hampden on Monday where Craig Paterson and Stevie Kirk shared their thoughts about our prospects on Saturday.  The SFA is banging the drum again today when Ross Forbes (together with Celtic’s James Forrest) make an appearance at a Glasgow primary school with the cameras in attendance.

Motherwell Times final supplement

Much of the work of the local press started after the semi final when they started to plan their cup final supplements.  Many local businesses were happy to place messages urging the team to success.  Current and former players’ quotes were matched with background statistics and the picture libraries raided to illustrate the pull outs that are destined to be filed along with other souvenirs of 2 May 2011.  The special editions are now on sale.

Tuesday was media day at Fir Park.  A flock of reporters and photographers descended on the ground and recorded, snapped and noted enough material to keep Motherwell fans occupied for hours.  They chatted to players in the Centenary Suite, filmed them on the pitch and photographed them with the cup in the stand.  It can’t have been an easy task answering similar questions time after time.

It will be important now for the squad to retreat from the limelight and to start the pre-match preparations.  McCall has seen it all as a player and he’ll know the importance of the last few days.

Meanwhile, the club has completed the ballot and has suggested that a few  tickets might go on general sale from Thursday morning.
