Pearo returns

The 32 year old left sided midfielder left us in January 2004 for Celtic in exchange for a fee of £350,000.  It was a modest sum for the young player who had by then collected the first of ten international caps.  His departure was clouded by his unwise comments before he joined the Parkhead outfit and his relationship with ‘Well fans was soured.  In the MFC TV interview that announced his return he acknowledged the error.

Just a boy in 2003!

He was one of the group of talented young players who survived the reduction in player numbers when Motherwell entered the dark days of administration.  Like McFadden, Hammell Quinn and Clarkson he made the best of the chance and a full professional career followed.

His talents were, at times, blemished by a fiery temper.  In his last full season with us he earned 9 yellow and 2 red cards.  After Celtic he had spells at Derby, Stoke and Bristol City and spent the end of 2014 in the Indian Premier League.

Ian Baraclough expressed his pleasure at the signing, "It's a coup for us," he told BBC Scotland. "He's still got good legs and he will give us energy."

That energy should give a boost to our flagging midfield and if he can play a part in keeping us above the bottom to places in the table he’ll earn our thanks.
