Porter signs pre-contract with Forest?

We signed Chris Porter to great fanfare last summer and it was immediately labelled a coup. He was highly rated and scored bundles of goals for Oldham but moved to Scotland meaning they missed out on a transfer fee. We beat off competition from Dundee United to take him to Fir Park and he provided an instant return on our investment by scoring 18 goals as we qualified for Europe.

But he didn't just provide goals. His wonderful link play and movement were vital and he thrived alongside the work-rate of Clarkson and the skills of McCormack.

This season has been more of a struggle. He only has four goals to his name and it could be argued that he never really recovered from missing a penalty against United early in the season. There have been glimpses of his talent but with the rest of the team struggling to provide him with service, there is no denying he has been below par.

It remains to be seen whether or not they manage to take him in January or if he will be with us until summer.
Given our current predicament, an on-song Porter would be a huge help. Alternatively if we can take a few hundred thousand and buy a player with his talents elsewhere, then it might give us a big chance to strengthen the squad.

We wish him all the best in the future but hopefully he can help us out before he goes - either by scoring the goals to keep us up or by earning us a nice fee for an early departure!
