Preview: Dundee United (h)

The memory of the 4-0 drubbing we handed out to our visitors at their own patch will galvanise Levein's men but there's no reason for anything other than optimism from the Motherwell point of view.

There was grass at Fir Park in August

The points were shared when United were at Fir Park in August. It was our first point of the season and but for Zaluska's save from Porter's penalty we could have won the game.

The loss to Hearts a fortnight ago ended a nine game unbeaten run and that defeat came with a deflected shot in added time. Craigan has recovered from his head knock and there are no reported injuries. In the last couple of games we have started with Clarkson, Sutton, Sheridan and O'Brien in a formation which was designed to go forward at every opportunity. Whether the tactics will remain on the silky surface at
Fir Park remains to be seen.

United are seven points ahead of us despite winning only one of their last five games. Scott Robertson and Danny Swanson might be in contention for places after injuries but if Motherwell concentrate on their own game then a home win might be on the cards. 1-0 will do nicely.
