Preview - Rangers (h)

That the last player to score a winner for us against Rangers was James McFadden shows just how long ago that was. We have faced several Rangers side in that time - more than one of which has been terrible - yet failed to beat them. Now Rangers are solid but generally unspectacular, will we do any better?

It is hard to be sure given our young squad. Should Rangers impose themselves physically and get an early goal it could be a struggle for us but then we did show good character to come back, twice, against St Johnstone. The dream scenario is that our youthful naivety allows us to ignore the pressure of playing the Old Firm and a moment of magic or piece of luck gives us an advantage we can build on.

'Well in the spotlight

Squad wise Rangers will be without Edu and probably Lafferty but Mendes and Davis will be hard to match in midfield and after Wednesday it seems certain that Kenny Miller will bag a goal! We have Darren Smith out and Paul Slane seems a constant doubt at present but we should have plenty of options available. Whether or not Hammell appears at left back seems like a major question while manager Gannon will also need to decide who from Sutton, Murphy and Jatkiewicz gets the nod up front. Moutaouakil will probably debut at right back.

We have made an impressive start to the season and a win here really would have us dreaming of great things. We might just get it with a hard fought 2-1 success.

Remember the last time Rangers visited?
