It's Halloween! It's Halloween!

The moon is full and bright

And we shall see what can't be seen

On any other night
(A win for the 'Well)

If there was any prospect of fancy dress and a bit of guising producing a result for the Mighty 'Well then there would be some weird and wonderful outfits on show in the home stands. A Motherwell cup win over Rangers is almost as likely as seeing a witch on her broomstick flying past the floodlights. The record books take us back to the long remembered 1961 Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox when St John and co. produced the famous 5-2 scoreline.

The teams met at Fir Park a month ago in a league game. Rangers needed the usual penalty to rescue a point after Porter's first half strike.

Motherwell took a lot of credit for their performance that day and we'll need to produce the same combination of flair and determination if we are to win the tie.

The manager has made much of our inability to defend set pieces and the team will be well warned about the danger of conceding needless fouls. For the first time in ages we have a few injury worries. Paterson and Hughes were substituted at the weekend and the physio will have been working hard to deliver them fit for the kick off.

Our opponents looked flat at the weekend and they will be keen to make amends for the defeat at Tannadice. However, this is a cup tie with extra time and penalties if needed. It might be time for a new entry in the record book- maybe another 1-1 after ninety minutes and an extra time winner!
