Will the traditional defeat follow their clean sweep of the January awards? Manager Reid, young player McCarthy and keeper Cerny were the media darlings this week as they collected the monthly SPL trophies. Few could argue with the limelight being focussed on the other side of the Clyde. Five wins in January and no goals conceded was an impressive record but they will know that all good things come to an end. And who better to deliver the blow that Motherwell.

Our recent record has been pretty good and the eight game unbeaten run can continue with this next match taking place on home turf (or sand as the case may be). Mark McGhee will surely not repeat the single striker experiment which saw us draw with St Mirren and a more traditional 4-4-2 will return.

Any debate about team selection will centre on the playing partner for Clarkson. Will Sutton be preferred to the newcomer, Sheridan? Or will Murphy be given the nod? The state of the uneven playing surface might be the deciding factor. A slick passing game would seem to be impossible and the tactics of the long ball may come into play. Is it possible that we could play Clarkson, Sutton and Sheridan in the same eleven and adopt an attacking 4-3-3?

The last league meeting at Fir Park saw a crowd of more that 6,000 provide a good atmosphere and the game is likely to be a hard fought battle. With any luck home advantage will see us through and we could have a three point gap on our neighbours come five o'clock. 2-1 to the Mighty 'Well.
