Now that the transfer window has closed everyone can concentrate on the job in hand without the distractions caused by rumour and speculation. There seems to be some satisfaction in the Motherwell camp that Stephen Hughes has joined to boss the midfield while the arrival of Lewis Grabben should keep the strikers on their toes.

We'll have to wait until the team sheets are exchanged to discover if Mark McGhee has included them in his match planning. Our run of four SPL fixtures in a row at Fir Park will end with this encounter and a win would give us the sort of fairy tale start that few would have imagined possible.

There is no reason for 'Well fans to be other than optimistic. We have scored in every outing so far and the six goals have been spread widely between forwards and midfielders. Our opponents have found the net only twice from four league games and they lie one from the bottom with two points.

If we can regain the fast passing patterns which were so evident against St Mirren and Kilmarnock we will justify the bookies decision to make us 6/4 favourites.

It is very difficult to predict what sort of opposition we will face and the turmoil at Tynecastle continues to bemuse fans and neutrals alike. But we should have the confidence and belief to keep our good run going. 2-1 to the Mighty 'Well.
