Remember the replay v Morton 22 years ago today?

The game was needed following a disappointing  goalless draw at Fir Park.  We had dispatched Aberdeen and Falkirk in earlier rounds and  were clear favourites to reach the semi finals but if we were to succeed we had to overcome Morton on a cold, blustery Wednesday night at Cappielow.

There was a good atmosphere inside the old stadium and it improved when Tom Boyd put us into the lead when he got his head on a goal line clearance after Cooper's cross.  Our hopes for a convincing win soon disappeared as Morton fought to keep the tie alive.

The fully deserved their second half equaliser.  It came when Maxwell's parry of a 20 yard effort from MacDonald fell for Gahagan and our old boy was presented with a simple tap in.

Extra time and penalties followed until Colin 'Psycho' O'Neill slammed the final kick beyond Wylie.  Motherwell fans soon dismissed the nervous scare and concentrated on the forthcoming trip to Hampden.  Two epic battles with Celtic lay in the future before the triumph against Dundee United in the final.

Motherwell's 1991 cup run is here.
