Ross County at Fir Park on Saturday

The visitors scored very late double last weekend to give them their second win from seven league starts.   They'll be hoping that the turnaround against Hearts indicates a change in fortune as they have yet to take three points on the road.   The Staggies have made a stuttering start this season and, like Motherwell, they have had to integrate a number of new faces into their squad.

Motherwell v Ross County May 2013

Much of their success last season was due to the midfield duo of Lawson and Vigurs.  They are now Motherwell players and we'll be hoping that they can enjoy a Saturday night celebrating a victory over their former team.  County has a few on the injury list but we can expect to face a strong and determined eleven with Adams driving them on.  He said, "We pushed Motherwell close last season and played well against them the majority of the time. However, we’ve changed a bit and so have they, so it will be an interesting match. It’s always good for the home team at Fir Park. They know the surroundings and the lay-out and the pitch has various slopes across it, but we always enjoy playing there."

While Ross County had no League Cup fixture this week (Stranraer knocked them out in Round 2) Motherwell kept interest in the competition alive with a 2-1 win at Livingston.  McCall made five changes for that tie but we can expect to see most of them reversed on Saturday.

At Tannadice there was a noticeable gap on the right flank that was exploited by United in the second half.  Ainsworth plugged the gap then contributed a terrific long range goal to secure a point.  The winger did his chances of selection no harm on Wednesday and he'll be hoping for more than a bit part in the proceedings.

McFadden opened his account with a clever flick and completed 90 minutes.  Will he return to league action for this one?  Both Sutton and Anier were rested and they'll be back to lead the line as we look to extend the five game unbeaten stretch with a 2-1 win.
