Scottish Masters - Motherwell

Last updated : 15 July 2007 By Firparkcorner

This regional heat included Celtic, Rangers and St Mirren as well as the Mighty Motherwell. After each team played the other three the top two played out the final.

Our squad was listed as Stevie Woods, Paul McGrillen, Paul Harvey, Kenny Black, Mark Riley, Brian Martin, Jamie Dolan, Owen Coyle and Eddie May.

We opened with a pleasing 3-2 against Rangers with Owen Coyle stealing the show by scoring all three. Next came St Mirren. Coyle and Kenny Black found the net without reply to guarantee a place in the final with a game in hand.

The 4-4 draw against Celtic was a warm up for the rehearsal for the final. Our opponents had already beaten Rangers and drawn with St Mirren to qualify.

The final was level at the break with a goal apiece but the best team on the night strode away in the second half to take the title with a 5-1 romp. Throughout the evening the vocal 'Well support played their part and they contributed to a successful night.

We join
Newcastle, Leicester, Wolves, Leeds, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in the Grand Finals. One from Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham will join the rest after the London heat next Saturday.
