SPL fixtures for 2010/11 on Thursday

Last updated : 14 June 2010 By Firparkcorner

Motherwell rarely have the boost of an opening day win. The table below lists the dismal record of the last nine seasons and it shows only one win. Are we due to reverse the losing habit?  The results in the opening series of games often set the tone for the rest of the season. Last time the fixture computer sent us to newly promoted St Johnstone for the opener and if the supposed leak is correct we'll be off on our travels to First Division winners Inverness for the first game of the season.

We will have no need to travel to Falkirk on league business this season.  Instead we'll have the long trip up the A9 where Craig Brown will be keen to reverse the result that he had on his first managerial visit to Inverness.

Our pre-season schedule consists of three games in six days (July 6, 8, 10 at Brechin, Forfar and Ayr) before the first Europa League action on Thursday July 15.   We could have four european games before the SPL season kicks off on 14 August.
