The waiting game continues

Simon Lappin was on loan from Norwich City from February and his contribution, including two goals, from midfield was more that enough to merit inclusion in our plans. He as been told by Glen Roeder that "he hasn't got a great future here", and though there might be interest from other clubs, the lure of the Uefa cup might be enough to draw him northwards.

Bob Malcolm is another who seems to be playing a waiting game. McGhee said recently, "Bob said that for the next couple of weeks he would like to keep his options open and see what's out there, he doesn't want to rush anything. I have given him until the start of pre-season training, which is July 3, before we have to look elsewhere."

The last of the undecided is Ross McCormack. McGhee's plan is to spend some time with Ross when he returns from holiday. A day or two in Brighton might give our manager enough time to persuade McCormack that he could add to his eleven goals of last season and as a result stir up some interest from some of the big teams south of the border.

It is likely that McGhee will want a settled squad ahead of the week's training camp in Austria but the nature of football contracts in these modern times is such that activity will probably continue until the transfer window closes at the end of August.
