We did it for Phil

Beachball !
There were songs and chants a-plenty and beach balls and sombreros were in the air in celebration of the Uefa adventure to come.

The team and the backroom staff appeared to a rousing welcome. They sported tops bearing Phil's picture and the words "We hope we made you proud". All carried the number 10 on the reverse and the name O'Donnell.

The famous O'Donnell shirt banner flanked the players as they made their way across to the east stand and they received a great welcome. Emotions were mixed. Gaining third place in the league and European qualification would be enough to justify a party at any time but we had so much more this season.

We played a lot of breathtaking football during the season and it was fitting that some reward should come from that.

Overshadowing all of these achievements has been the loss of Uncle Phil. Several months have now passed since his death and the courage shown in the dressing room since the end of December has been rewarded.

It was a special fifteen minutes at Fir Park this afternoon and it will live long in the collective memory of the Motherwell support.

Next season the main stand will be renamed in Phil's memory - let's hope that it will see some European success!

Enjoy the pictures.
