Edinburgh City were dismissed in the first round tie with goals from Mackin and Fry and next up is a Lanarkshire derby against the League One side.

Airdrie join the competition at this stage but they are not short of competitive action.  They lost 4-2 to Livingston at the Excelsior on Saturday they won the opening league game against Stenhousemuir.   Their four Betfred Cup matches resulted in a win, two defeats and a draw.

‘Well fans will be familiar with their captain.  Marc Fitzpatrick, he of the famous late semi-final goal against Hearts at Easter Road in 2005, joined Airdrie after his spell at Morton.

Stephen Craigan is an enthusiast for the competition believing that the test it provides is exactly what is needed to help develop developing players.  The team face a serious challenge against a far more experienced side.

Just over 400 fans attended the first round tie but more are expected for this clash.  The Phil O’Donnell stand will house the home support and the South Stand will be available for the away fans.  Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
