Over a hundred players (of all shapes and sizes) took part in the annual Motherwell Supporters' Trust competition at the PowerLeague complex in Hamilton. The teams played in sections with promotion to the quarter finals up for grabs.

The winners were well practiced in the art of penalty taking by the time they reached the final. They had disposed of MillerWell in their semi final when their keeper saved a sudden death spot kick from the opposing guardian.

The final against FruitCorner was a tense, chess like game in which defence predominated. Neither side could score and after fifteen minutes the referee's whistle signalled the penalty shoot-out.

Tenacious V won by 3-2. The victorious team (Stewart Thomson, Stephen Robertson, David Eadie, John Shearer, Stephen Dunn, John McCabe and David Jackson) posed for their picture with the Cup with thoughts of a three in a row contest next year. Jim Frame presented the trophy and thanked everyone associated with the event for their efforts.

Davie Tonner was the organiser for this fifth running of the Fives. He also found time to take a leading role in the Kaiser Cheats team which reached the semi final. Once a again the Trust wishes to thank Davie for the power of work which goes on behind the scenes. He received a grateful round of applause from those attending the prizegiving.
