Hundreds of Motherwell fans braved the cold this morning to snap up tickets for our cup tie at Inverurie in two weeks time. With only around 400 going on public sale, some will no doubt be disappointed.

A determined few, around 20, were in place by 7.30am and as the minutes ticked by the numbers continued to grow.

The biting chill ensured life wasn't entirely comfortable but at least there wasn't any rain!

A precious ticket!

The low temperatures ensured that the floodlights were on as the groundstaff inspected the pitch but with the day getting warmer it is unlikely this afternoon's match will be in danger. The balloon covered the grass and the blowers were working.

By the time the office staff opened the ticket office - a merciful 10 minutes early - there were around 130 waiting and the buying process commenced in and orderly fashion.

The Upper Crust down the road did a roaring trade in sausage rolls and coffee - they must have thought it was Christmas!

PS - A reminder that the Inverness game will be on BBC Alba tonight.
