Inverness cup tie frozen off

Fears over the current weather conditions and a decidedly icy forecast for the next few days meant that for reasons of safety the game will not take place this weekend.

Snow on the A9

It has been rescheduled for Tuesday (12 January) with a 7.45 pm kick off. Of course, that depends on the wintry weather easing. If Tuesday fails then we move to Monday 18th then Wednesday 20th as the next candidates according to the SFA.

Although fans hate to have a Saturday without the footy fix, few would have looked forward to the long trail up the A9 for the pleasure of an outdoor seat in a temperature well below zero. No doubt the players were not looking forward to playing in those conditions either.

So the official debut of Messrs Brown and Knox is delayed yet again. They have yet to see their choice eleven in a game. The tactics board can be shelved for a few more days.

There has been no news of the search for a permanent appointment. If the job is filled quickly and the weather doesn't ease then we could have the weird situation where our interim management team fail to take charge of a single game (given that Gordon Young was in charge v Hearts).

The thrill of the Scottish Cup will have to be on hold for a few days but we can always dream of a sunny Hampden in May.
