New season fixtures out on Friday

Last updated : 13 June 2016 By Firparkcorner

Motherwell will hope to continue the recent trend that has seen a three point confidence booster come from the opener.  The table below demonstrates the improvement in first day performance in the last five years and Mark McGhee will be hoping to maintain the record as he begins the first full season of his second term at the helm.

Wes scored last season's winner in the opener

Wes Fletcher gave us the perfect start in Inverness a year ago with what turned out to be his only goal for the club.  His early strike proved to be the highlight of his season in claret and amber.

There will be no league meeting with Dundee United due to their relegation and we'll have the pleasure of facing Rangers instead.  Kilmarnock's play-off success means Rugby Park will remain on our rota.

The Premiership will have a three week winter break - two fixture free Saturdays in January.

Before the new dates are firmly placed in supporters' diaries there is the usual reminder that $ky and BT $port will have their say.  We can expect that few visits to Fir Park from the big two Glasgow clubs will be kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday.  And let's hope for no Friday night treks to distant venues.
